Method
- 01
Read
The browser walks through the file and reads its metadata blocks, without decoding the image.
- 02
Remove
EXIF, XMP and comment blocks go. The colour profile and orientation stay, or the photo would change appearance.
- 03
Check
The result is read again before the download: if anything remains, it is not offered.
Questions
What remains after removal?
The image, byte for byte: it is neither recompressed nor resized. Only the data needed to display it stays, such as the colour profile and orientation.
Which formats?
JPEG, PNG, WebP and HEIC, the iPhone’s format.
Is my photo sent anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser, and the page draws the map itself: no map service receives the position. The witness counts network requests since the photo was opened.
Can an image reveal anything else?
Yes: what it shows. A street sign, a face or a reflection are not metadata, and the tool does not remove them.
